Key Verse
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I went to school for way too many years. 23, in fact. No, I didn’t repeat years — I just love learning! I never stop getting a thrill from learning, discovering, or revealing something I didn’t know before. I think one of the most fascinating subjects to learn about is, well — me. Self-discovery is a great gift. The better I know myself, the more use I am to the world.
I think, perhaps, that’s what Paul was getting at when he talked about renewing our minds. What use is it for me to discern what is the “will of God” for other people’s lives? When I discern God’s will for my life, then I can turn self-discovery into action that serves the greater world.
I’ve discovered many ways to discern God’s will for my life through the renewing of my mind. Mindfulness is the newest and most effective for me. Some older, yet still effective methods include meditation, formal education, and deep conversations with very close friends. Some new ones I have yet to explore, but would like to soon include reiki, acupuncture, and chakras. I know very little about these, but I’m fascinated to learn. Perhaps they will help me discern the ever-changing and often elusive God’s will for my life.
