RCL Daily Devotions written by Daniel D. Maurer from RCL Worship Resources (see more).
If you’ve ever visited the ocean or another large body of water, you know the power of waves.
Yearly, our family travels to Florida to visit my parents. Our two boys have consistently always loved going to the beach. And while my wife and I are content simply viewing the waves from afar, our boys love to enter the waters and smash their bodies against the waves.
Imagery and the metaphors from the Bible often use water, and with good reason—the power of water is palpable wherever you see it. Its destructive capabilities are unmatched, but so, too, do we perceive its beauty.
Any metaphor or allegory from the Bible cannot fully describe the power of the infinite. But I have to say that the power of water comes very close!
