Psalm 107:1-9, 43, Word to the Wise

Key Verse

Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind. For he satisfies the thirsty, and the hungry he fills with good things. Let those who are wise give heed to these things, and consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
— Psalm 107:8-9, 43

RCL Daily Devotion for Friday, August 2, 2019

RCL Daily Devotions written by R. Fergus Moir from RCL Worship Resources (see more).

Steadfast means immovable, not subject to change. So it is with God’s love. People are changeable. One day I am peaceful and connected to God, allowing God to direct my actions in my life and relationships. Other days, I think I’m God, and it’s up to me to solve all the worlds problems, starting with controlling everyone and everything around me.

We are fortunate that God’s love is steadfast, that regardless of our state of being in the moment, God loves us, nurtures us, astonishes us with grace and beauty. We are wise when we give heed to these things, wise when we allow God to draw us back into God’s awesome presence with the still, small voice of calm.

Steadfast God, help me to be wise so that I might recognize your unchangeable love in my life. Amen.
