John 1:14-18, I Spy

Key Verse

No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, who has made him known.
— John 1:17-18

RCL Daily Devotions written by R. Fergus Moir from RCL Worship Resources (see more).

I spy with my little eye something that begins with “J.”

Jesus. God with us. We cannot see God in true form—our minds could not comprehend. But God does come to us in the person of Jesus, and through Jesus we see God. Not what God physically looks like, but who God is, and who we are in relationship to God.

God in Jesus is still with us today, and we can see God everywhere if we only look. Remember that whatever we do for the least, the lost, the Other, we do for Jesus, for God. Therefore, any time we look into the face of those in need, the Son, who is close to the Father’s heart, makes God known to us.

Gracious God, help me to see you in the faces of all your beloved children. Amen.
