RCL Daily Devotion for Monday, December 17, 2018

RCL Daily Devotions written by Daniel D. Maurer from RCL Worship Resources (see more).

Intricate cross in buildings. Skyscrapers.

The New Testament Epistle to the Hebrews is one of my favorite books in the Bible. In fact, many scholars and artists throughout the ages have considered Hebrews as one of the most eloquent.

Often, I think about what my life is amounting to. Do you?

This passage in Hebrews would seem to indicate that we have a community to look forward to. I don’t know what heaven holds (or, even if it’s real—yes, I doubt sometimes). What I do know is that without others to help guide me and remind me who and whose I am, I continue to feel lost.

Jesus lived in a community and Jesus lives today in the community of believers who celebrate with his body and blood at the table, hear the Word, and live within the grace given to us through God’s name.
