I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will bless them and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary among them for evermore.

RCL Daily Devotion for Monday, May 13, 2019

RCL Daily Devotions written by Daniel D. Maurer from RCL Worship Resources (see more).

I find it interesting reading all the different covenants/promises God made with the Israelites. Again and again, God sets out to be in relationship with the people. Yet again and again, the people seem to forget the covenant God made with them.

Thematically, I think this says something about our own lives and the connections with make with God. I don’t know about you, but daily I need to remind myself in prayer and simply thinking about it that God has made a promise to me through my baptism. Baptismal identity is one promise that continues being a promise no matter how many times we forget it!

In Ezekiel, we read that the people needed these reminders to remember who and whose they were. Perhaps we need that daily reminder as well.

What ways do you remind yourself of your relationship with God?
