RCL Daily Devotions written by R. Fergus Moir from RCL Worship Resources (see more).
My mom is an amazing gardener. As a kid, I remember her tending the soil in her big, fenced-in plot in the back yard, turning it over, adding manure and peat moss, creating a rich, dark dirt in which her vegetables and flowers would thrive all summer long. I remember wandering through the tall plants in late summer, plucking tomatoes fresh off the vine and eating them like apples, delighting in the fruit of her loving labors.
Like my mom caring for the plants rooted and grounded in rich soil, God plants us in the rich soil of Christ’s love, soil so nourishing that it strengthens our inner being with the power of the Holy Spirit. With such tender care, how can we not bear good fruit?
Loving God, help us to put down deep roots in your nourishing love, that we may flourish in you. Amen.
