RCL Daily Devotions written by Dr. Kimberly Leetch from RCL Worship Resources (see more).
In this world of immediate gratification and the relentless pursuit of happiness, we have become quite accustomed to resisting the negative emotions and experiences that inevitably come our way. Bad day at work? Ghost your job. (Quit, but don’t tell anybody.) Fight with your partner? Drink a beer. Do whatever is necessary to feel better.
The problem is that life is not always awesome. And the things that happen to us that we don’t like are a necessary part of being human. Without the negative, we have no appreciation for the positive. Without the struggle, we would never become stronger people. As much as we hate to admit it, we need the challenges. Did you know that the way to build a muscle is to work it out to the point that you create micro-tears, and then when it recovers, it’s stronger than before? We were hard-wired to endure the good and the bad. For everything there is a season. Whatever season you’re in right now, move through it with patience, courage, and strength.
