1 Corinthians 5:6b-8, Just a Little Yeast

Key Verse

Therefore, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
— 1 Corinthians 5:8

Yeast is an amazing thing. So little of it is required to have such a big effect.

It’s not surprising that Paul used this allegory when he wrote the Corinthian community. They, too, had an issue with being “puffed up” with themselves. Unleavened bread, in comparison, isn’t puffed up at all. It’s only rich, whole, nutritious.

What little things do we allow to grow into monsters in our lives? For me, it’s many. Too many, really, to discuss here. But knowing that God can be—and, indeed, is—enough is good to know.

What little things do you allow to grow out of control in your life?
